Very nice meal, and the service was attentive but slow. Had seared beef, shrimp bruchetta, and Italian sausage appetizers - all were good. Entrees included rib eye, surf & turf, lamb, and chicken. All were good and well presented. Also had cheesecake and creme brulee. Would eat here again.

Great appetizers, wine, art & company in historic Las Vegas. No need to drive to Santa Fe for a taste of gourmet (and the company is friendlier here!)

We were in town for a funeral we needed something to eat after the wake, dicks said they were open until 10, so did yelp, and so did the sign on the door @ 930 they had a closed sign up and were told that they grills had been shut down for 15 minutes and they would but be able to serve our party of 8. They recommended McDonald's

Sarah is a attentive, friendly server. The food (shrimp bruschetta, bacon wrapped salmon, filet minion, and warm spinach salad) were fresh and delicious. The deconstructed pineapple cobbler and creme bruele were fantastic ways to wrap up our day! We will definitely stop back in when we come back to L.V.

Coming down to the historic area of Las Vegas, this is an Excellent place to eat. Quaint and great service. Had Pecan breaded chicken breast sandwich with Spicy Bacon Mushroom soup and the Cuban Pork sandwich with potatoes. Both were superb sandwiches. Menu offerings we're appetizing and reasonably priced.

We just had a great meal in a restaurant that is very unique and atypical for Las Vegas, NM. Five of us were seated imediately, they do take reservations, not needed when we visited. We had the blackened chicken salad which was described as one of the best salads EVER. The chicken goorgonzola was delicious. Great chicken basil parmesan Alfredo with small pieces of chicken, maybe not enough. We had both the rib eye and the filet mignon which were cooked perfectly medium rare. Steamed veggies on the side excellent, so often restaurants overcook their vegetables. You can't go wrong at this wonderful location.

Vegetarian sandwiches are the bomb! Homemade bread set it off! Will return whenever here!

After an interesting afternoon of listening to a local historian, we went to El Fidel for dinner. My wife had the spicy sweet potato soup and a tossed salad and I had the Italian sausage pasta with a red pepper cream sauce. Both of our meals were very good. Service was good.

An unexpected find in Las Vegas NM. Had a blackened chicken salad. It was very good at first a nice rosemary glaze! A little further along some of the chicken pieces tasted a bit like they were breaded with fish, so kind of yucky. Had a sauvignon blanc from NZ very good and also unexpected. Had the chocolate cake for dessert tasty but way too large a piece! Had good service until the end when she dropped the check but didn't check back for 20 minutes. I was ready to leave so took it up to cashier , who said the server had stepped out and she couldn't ring me out. Ended up leaving cash and a bigger tip than I thought she deserved. So overall, I would go again especially since it was Las Vegas NM, but might ask for some things up front.

Decent meal and we're glad we stopped to eat. Comments: Shrimp Bruschetta Appetizer - Excellent Spinach Salad - Tasty but way too much Balsamic Reduction dressing which overwhelmed the whole salad Sausage Pasta - Very Good Creme Brûlée - Disappointed, turns out the chef who made the excellent brûlée left the restaurant at the beginning of the summer, it is now October. The flavor was good but the brulee was actually curdled and watery.

A diamond in the desert. Great local eatery. Friendly staff, creative menu and great prices. My friends and I stop there when we are passing through to Colorado and even stay the night in Las Vegas sometimes... Last I was there, chef/owner Miguel came out and greeted people. He was so friendly. It's hard not to love this place.

We stopped here based on their Yelp recommendation. Was a little worried because the place was nearly empty on a Saturday night, but all of our food was delicious. The clam chowder had a smoky flavor with a spicy kick. The grilled Caesar salad was a little difficult to eat, but worth the effort. My husband's pasta was homemade and my son could not finish the generous surf & turf portions.

Stopped here the other day on a road trip. We were very impressed with the building! It was beautiful! We got there a little bit before they opened but they pulled us in off the street, served us a beer and were very friendly. They served some of their made from scratch bread and it was amazing! We ate dinner there and the food turned out great. It was a little bit pricey, but it was great. The atmosphere was very calming. Service was great! The restaurant was very clean and a bit romantic! I'm sure things change up later at night, but we were there right at opening.

We had a group meeting at the El Fidel, everyone ordered something different and all were impressed. The eggplant was delicious. I'm a stickler for a hot meal and great service and they did not disappoint.

Not only great atmosphere, but great music and a stellar staff. We called 2 minutes after they were technically closed and they were more than willing to accommodate a 6 top on a Sunday night. So rare to get enthusiastic response to such a request! And, the food was incredible on top of all of that!

El Fidel was a diamond in the rough. We weren't sure what to expect, as we are from our of town (Colorado). We looked at some reviews from Yelp and decided to try it out. It was definitely not Mexican food, as I sort of expected. My husband got the clam chowder (which he said was INCREDIBLE) and the wild game pasta (totally unique). I got the spinach salad (again, incredible but definitely entree sized an big enough to share with two people) and pasta with red peppers, basil, and Alfredo sauce. It all was great and very worth the price. They don't have "regular" beers or sodas, but all of what we had instead was very good. If you are traveling through and want some place unique, classy, and slightly Italian, check it out. You'll be happy you did.

Four stars for creating such good food in a small (kinda depressed) town (sorry Las Vegas). Now, I gave four stars to a world class restaurant in NYC, and obviously this restaurant is nowhere near equivalent. But stars aren't a scientific rating, and they represent an emotional response in my book. Keeping yummy place like this open here must be no small feat, so kudos to them. Farm to table - organic and local ingredients. Local contemporary art on the walls. Nice modern music, like Iron and Wine channel ala Pandora? On to the food. Their caprese salad tomatoes were sweet and served with excellent greens, fesh basil, soft buffalo mozzarella, olive oil and balsamic. Usually a caprese is disappointing, even in upscale itialian restaurants. Here it was all fresh, all very good because it was locally sourced and organic. Pasta pomodoro with bacon- nice pasta with rich, but well seasoned sauce, and again, really fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic. It had too much sauce ( could have done with half, it was rich, but great on bread). I liked that I could so a half order. Bread was fresh with crisp crust. Oh, our waitress was very attentive and nice (and striking too). Good job El Fidel!

We stopped in there tonight on our way through town. Each and every part of our meal was excellent! We were promptly greeted at the door, and from that point on, the service was spot on. The food was unique, and delicious. We had the steak salad, and the Parmesan garlic mushrooms, followed by the best creme brulee that I've ever had.

Almost never filled at any point in time, so it's nice having a quiet, classy atmosphere. Their food is probably the best in town - in taste, quality, and cleanliness. All of this comes at a steep price. Since I was there last, they've raised their prices on everything by at least $2; this makes getting the steak a daunting endeavor... However, their $28 ribeye is the best steak in town (besides cooking at home...) I love their tuna sashimi appetizer, served caprese style with cucumber slices, avocado, and sashimi stacked, and drizzled with a siracha-soy sauce. Also, it's the only place in town that you can get raw fish (that won't kill you). Their pasta is fantastic. Any pasta dish I've had is full of flavor, fresh herbs, and perfectly cooked. The three-meat sausage pasta is really good. I think it's venison, boar, and elk or something nice like that. Beer and wine here is very reasonably priced; better than Dick's by a bit. I love coming here for the tuna sashimi and a draft of anything Marble. They've changed their wall art from the creepy men staring at you to more abstract paintings, which is nice. I really disliked Bach staring into my soul as I ate. All-in-all, a great restaurant.

I eat here about once a month when I come into town and El Fidel never disappoints. I've eaten the Cuban sandwich, the chicken sandwich specials, a couple salads and today, the lettuce wraps with pork. El Fidel is more upscale than most Las Vegas restaurants, but diners may be ranchers, bankers or tourists, so you don't have to dress up to eat there. Only suggestion to the chef: Serve the lettuce wraps deconstructed and allow diners to make their own. Add a couple cups of dipping sauce and you are good to go. As the lettuce wraps are served now, they are drippy, messy and hard to pick up with the dressing already on them. After splashing my shirt with dressing, I resorted to a knife and fork. Dessert: I usually don't order it, but today had the sweet potato mousse. Oh, my, was that full of flavor. But again, the strawberry garnish on top was a whole strawberry, partially sliced. The only way to eat it was using the itty bitty spoon offered with the mousse and the strawberry was too big. (So I used my fingers to fish the strawberry out.) You won't find New Mexican food here, but since it is represented in almost every other restaurant in town, it's a refreshing difference.

On a quick overnight in Las Vegas, NM we were pleasantly surprised to find El Fidel. The food and drinks were delicious, service great, and the atmosphere was really lovely. Our group ordered the shrimp bruschetta appetizer - really yummy. For entrees we had the filet mignon special, lamb polpettes, and the chicken with mascarpone risotto. Highly recommend all of these dishes. We will definitely be back.

Great food and atmosphere. You are def paying for the evening not just the meal. And it is still reasonable. Love this place

Decent high end restaurant located inside of the El Fidel Hotel. Brunch is served on SUN, and it's affordable. I've eaten here several times now, and have been happy with most of my meals. Fresh, often local ingredients Great local brews from a local NM Craft Brewery. Trendy, but not pretentious. Spotty service

Really really great food. Can compete with the best of them in Santa Fe. Worth the drive to try it out. Not much else to do here though.

I had the cioppino. Lots of mussels, some shrimp and fish in a spicy tomato broth. My wife had chicken and spinach over risotto. They were delicious, inexpensive. Blowing away my expectations.

I would never expect to find such a gem in Las Vegas, NM. Driving through with a growling stomach in search of a simple wholesome meal, we found El Fidel on Yelp and it turned out to be an amazing meal! Not quite expecting a dinning experience or to pay $15 or so for dinner, I left very satisfied and the excellent meal was well worth the price. This is a 5 star pick!

Charming, but needs some improvements. Service was ok...took quite a while to get refills on coffee. The food was pretty good, but changes are difficult. For example, we asked for some wheat bread for our 12 month toddler to eat, but they didn't have that so we were offered a croissant instead. The croissant arrived to us toasted and with butter...not exactly ideal for serving to a young child. The setting of the restaurant is within the historic hotel, so expect some of the oddities of an older building. One thing to be especially careful of is the chairs! When we first arrived we witnessed a woman in the table next to us go to sit down and completely fall backwards and hit her head on the hard floor because the chair is imbalanced! Then, I went to pick something off the floor that my baby dropped, and I too almost fell over from the chair. Then another woman got up out of her seat in which she had hung her purse on the back and the chair fell over. Three incidents just in our short time there! The woman who fell out of the chair talked to the manager and I could overhear their conversation...basically he just tried to explain that you can't put anything heavy on the top of the chair and didn't offer an apology. They need to replace the chairs...lawsuit waiting to happen. Pros: Good food, interesting setting, art on walls, historic part of town Cons: Dangerous chairs, slow service

My meat lovers pasta and my dining partner's pesto penne were good, it seems. Hearty, a little spicy, and chock full of meat and pasta. The shrimp bruschetta was not, however. The shrimp was weak and it didn't taste very good, and kind of fell apart. However, this is probably one of the best restaurants you'll eat at in LV, with the exception of going to a home and eating a home cooked meal.

  • Drew T.

If you can find it, the food is the one of the better things in LV. There is no sign out front, but if you ask a local or use GPS you'll be fine. On my occassion here, the staff were extremely friendy and the food was tasty, but could have been better. Healthy food, live music (on sunday), and a clean restaurant - what more could you ask for.

What a find! We are on the way back to Santa Fe from Taos and came here based upon Yelp reviews. Had lunch including the Caprese salad with chicken. My wife had the hummus dish. Both sound pretty ordinary, but they were not. Great presentation, and excellent ingredients and taste. Once again we couldn't resist dessert. Had the lemon wedge with whipped cream. A great closing to an otherwise very heathy and delicious meal. If you're anywhere near Las Vegas, NM, this would be a great choice.

Great restaurant. I have eaten there twice now and have not been disappointed. The pasta dishes are superb and they have a great wine selection. I highly recommend El Fidel if you are looking for a nice grown up meal.
